Man dies in shooting by Meeker police officer; CBI to investigate

MEEKER, Colo. (AP) ” The Colorado Bureau of Investigation will handle the investigation of a fatal shooting involving a police officer for the Meeker Police Department.

Rio Blanco County sheriff’s officials say the officer was responding to a motel on a domestic disturbance call around 5:45 a.m. Friday when he fired his weapon at a man, who died at the scene.

The officer was placed on routine administrative leave while the investigation into the shooting continues. Names were not released.

Other details of what happened were not released Sunday.
