Man gets 36 years for child porn

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado – Christopher Carlyle, 35, of Glenwood Springs was sentenced Wednesday in district court to 36 years in prison, after being convicted on child pornography charges, according to a press release issued by 9th District Attorney Martin Beeson.

Carlyle was arrested in 2010 outside his workplace, after a multi-agency investigation uncovered more than 1,000 sexually explicit images of children on his employer’s computer, as well as printouts and videos of similar material at Carlyle’s home.

At the time of his arrest, Carlyle was on parole for a 2008 conviction of crimes against a minor, and was considered a habitual sexual offender.

He pled guilty on Sept. 23, 2011, to the offense of sexual exploitation of children, and two counts of habitual offender status.

Carlyle remained in the Garfield County Jail on Thursday, awaiting transfer to a Colorado Department of Corrections facility.
