Man held for suspected bank robbery attempt
RIFLE – A Rifle man was arrested Friday evening after allegedly attempting to rob the American National Bank in Rifle.
Bannon Lynn Lindsay, 37, is being held in the Garfield County Jail on suspicion of robbery, criminal attempt and disorderly conduct.
A report issued for the Rifle Police Department by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office states that Lindsay allegedly entered the bank around 5:45 p.m. Friday and walked around inside.
When a bank teller asked how he could be helped, he reportedly stated that he was there “for the money.”
The teller asked him another question, and Lindsay then left the bank without carrying out a robbery. No weapon was displayed, according to the report.
Officers were able to track down the suspect later Friday based on evidence and statements obtained during an investigation.
Police do not believe the latest robbery attempt is related to an armed robbery that occurred at the bank on the morning of May 27. In that incident, the suspect escaped and remains at large.
