Man survives wreck
A Carbondale man who fell asleep at the wheel of his Nissan truck Sunday was uninjured after a nasty-looking wreck on Sunday. Philip Stoloff, 44, was traveling east on Interstate 70 through Silt when he fell asleep and drifted off the side of the road, police said. He woke up and overcorrected, sliding along the guardrail for 86 feet and rolling his truck into the median of the highway. The accident happened at 5:10 p.m. Sunday. The truck sustained heavy damage, but police said Stoloff walked away unharmed, witnesses said. “They checked up on him and released him,” Silt police chief Paul Taylor said. “He’s a lucky fella looking at pictures of the truck.”Silt police will cite Stoloff for careless driving, Taylor said.Contact Greg Massé: 945-8515, ext. 511gmasse@postindependent.com
