Mansfield is Springers’ top finisher at Air Force

The Glenwood Springers track and field club ventured to Colorado Springs on Sunday for the annual Air Force High School Invitational.

Top clubs from California, Arizona and Nebraska were among those in attendance at the indoor meet, which is one of the largest of its kind in the western United States.

Michaela Mansfield recorded the Springers’ top finish, taking fifth place in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 30.78 seconds).

Other Glenwood athletes in the top 10 were Taylor Browning (sixth in the 400; 51.45), Andrew Mansfield (seventh in the 1,600; 4:47.68), Anna Gauldin (ninth in the long jump;14 feet, 7 inches) and Zach Browning (10th in the 400; 52.21).

The Air Force Invite served as a training opportunity for the Springers. Some of the club’s athletes have been running in the hallways at Glenwood Springs High School since November.
