March for peace January 18 in Washington, D.C.

Cathleen Krahe

Dear Editor,

In opposition to the massive build-up of military forces and equipment in the Persian Gulf, there will be a March on Washington to Stop Bush’s War on Iraq on Jan. 18. (Defense Secretary Rumsfeld signed orders to double the 50,000 troops already in the Gulf in the next few weeks.) People are to gather at the west side of the Capitol in Washington, D.C., at 11 a.m. and march to the Navy Yard.

If you wish to help prevent the deaths of Iraqi civilians and U.S. soldiers and show your opposition to a war with Iraq, consider going to the above march. Anyone wishing to see the results of bombing Iraq in 1991, Operation Desert Storm, is welcome to view my copy of the 28-minute video, “Nowhere to Hide.” It is a documentary of what it was like on the ground in Iraq during allied bombing in February 1991, krahe@sopris.net. It was sad to see the destruction and killing.

For information on the Washington march, contact the organizers at http://www.internationalANSWER.org.

They list Colorado groups going such as the Colorado Coalition for Middle East Peace, http://www.ccmep.org.
