Marcus Dee Freeland

Marcus Dee Freeland of Parachute died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Mesa Vista Assisted Living in Parachute. He was 90.

He was born Feb. 9, 1913, in Parachute to Edna Perham and Marcus Dee Freeland Sr. He was a lifetime resident of Parachute.

Mr. Freeland was a rancher. He cared for his parents, and worked the ranch until the late 1970s, when he sold the place and moved into town. He later sold his home and moved to Mesa Vista Assisted Living.

Mr. Freeland never married.

He was a member of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church.

Mr. Freeland is survived by a cousin and his wife, James and Shirley Michael of Fort Lupton; and by his caretaker, Roberta “Bobby” Wambolt.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at Mesa Vista Assisted Living, 72 Sipprelle Drive, in Parachute.

Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
