Margaret Ann (Vidmar) Gornick was born March 27, 1913, to father Frank Vidmar and mother Margaret Novak. Margaret was born and raised in Leadville, CO, in Iowa Gulch on a dairy ranch. She was the final survivor of 13 children. Married in January 1936 to Joseph A. Gornick, they resided in Leadville, CO, until 1966, when they relocated to Canon City, CO. Her daughter, Gloria, preceded her in death, in 1939 and husband Joseph in 1972.

At that time, Margaret joined her son, Joseph J Gornick (Joe) (Joyce) in Glenwood Springs, CO. There she enjoyed her family, including her two grandchildren, James A Gornick (Maria) and Juliann Gornick-Boucher (Justin) and several “grand-k-9s!”

Margaret lived at the Manor II in Glenwood Springs, top-floor, corner “penthouse” for 30 years. There she enjoyed watching the traffic across the Glenwood Springs bridge, the best seat in town for the Fourth of July fireworks display, the Hot Springs Pool views, and of course the 3 a.m. trains. She and her best friend, Vera Diemoz are the two longest residents of the Manor II. Their friend Dorothy often joined them, and enjoyed many games of BINGO, jigsaw puzzles, and nightly visits with one another.

Pancakes on Sundays were a favorite!

Services will be Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at 11 a.m., St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Leadville, CO.
