Marjorie Jane Durand, 97, of Carbondale CO, passed away Nov. 19, 2012 in Glenwood Springs, CO. Marjorie was born Jan. 12, 1915 in El Centro, California to Maverick and Rosetta McDonald.

She married the love of her life, Harlan Asbury Durand, on Jan. 12, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. They moved from Laguna Beach in 1947 to Cedar City, Utah. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 1968.

Marjorie retired from the phone company in 1980, and she moved to Colorado in 1985, where she lived at Sunnyside for 20 years. She learned to paint with water colors, and she also enjoyed cooking and baking. She graduated from Tustin High school in Tustin, California and Santa Ana Junior College. She was a member of the We Three Trio of Laguna Beach, CA. Marjorie was a 60-year member of the Cedar City Chapter #20 Eastern Star.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Edith Durand Gardner; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; son Howard Durand; sister Edith M. Provan; and great-grandson Michael.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 4 p.m. at the Farnum Holt Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood Springs, CO.
