Marsha Jo Pittenger died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 at her residence. She was 60.

She was born Aug. 8, 1949, in Clay Center, Kan., the daughter of Marvin and Grace Siebold.

Marsha attended the Idylwild Grade School in Clay County and graduated from Clay County High School with the class of 1967.

She married Arnold Dwight Pittenger on Dec. 2, 1967 at the Hayes United Methodist Church in Clay County Kansas. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Shane Dwight, Jennifer Dawn and Brandi Jo.

Marsha and Arnold lived in Clay Center until the summer of 1989 when the family moved to Glenwood Springs. They built a house in New Castle in 1995 and resided there until September 2009 when they moved to Fountain, Colo.

Marsha’s love for children made it easy for her to be a child care provider and she operated a preschool after her youngest child was born for several years in Clay Center and she continued that line of work after moving to Colorado.

Marsha was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the summer of 2003, which she courageously battled until late summer of 2009, when it finally took her strength, but not her determination to fight until the end.

Marsha was preceded by her father, Marvin H. Siebold; eldest brother, Lanny R. Siebold; nephew Jeffery L. Siebold; father and mother-in-law, Albert and Patricia Pittenger.

She is survived by her loving, devoted husband, Arnold D. Pittenger; her mother, Grace Siebold of Linn Kan.; children, Shane Pittenger (fiancee Lisa Mathews) of Fountain, CO.; Jennifer (Donivan) Livingston of New Castle, Brandi (Raymond) Laney of Colorado Springs; sister, Carolyn (Bryce) Brown of Rifle; brothers, Jerry (Betty) Siebold of Clay Center Kan.; Tony (Barbara) Siebold of Manhattan, Kan.; sister-in-law Rita Siebold of Clay Center, Kan.; her grandchildren, Victoria Dawn Stevenson and Shantelle Jade Stevenson, Justice Alexandria Livingston and Serenity Jade Livingston all of New Castle; Jordyn Ashley Laney, Jailyn Marie Laney and Tavin Vance Laney, all of Colorado Springs; step grandchildren Justin Taylor Allen and Jessica Marie Allen of Fountain, CO. as well as numerous relatives and friends that loved her and will miss her greatly.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kan. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kan. A Celebration of Life will be held in Colorado at a later date.
