Martha R. Fowler

August 3, 1937 – August 22, 2004Martha R. Fowler, 67, of Glenwood Springs died Aug. 22, 2004, at Valley View Hospital.She was born Aug. 3, 1937, in Milton, Kan., the daughter of William W. and Verla M. (Burns) Newbury. She married Jim D. Fowler in 1952 and moved to Glenwood in 1958, where she lived for 46 years. She worked at Glen Valley Nursing Home for several years, managed a mobile home park for 23 years and also ran a home day-care center for many of those years.She is survived by her sons, Jay D. (Roz) Fowler, Jim D. (Wendy) Fowler and Jesse D. Fowler, all of Glenwood Springs; daughters Bonnie Van Gaalen of Fruita, Dawn (Wayne) Carnahan and Denise Sellers of Glenwood Springs, and Kelley (Danny) Davis of Kaycee, Wyo.; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Newbury of Texas; a sister, Lydia Bradley of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two brothers, Samuel Guinn and Seth Newbury.There will be a service at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs.
