Maude Godsy Collins

Maude Godsy Collins of Sweet Home, Ore., died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at the Mennonite Home. She was 98.She was born June 6, 1905, in Willow Springs, Mo., to Mary E. Flemming and David Godsy. At the age of 3, she traveled with her family from Missouri to Fort Worth, Texas, in a covered wagon. The trip took six months.She married Ira Wilson “Bill” Collins on Jan. 25, 1925, in Pawnee, Okla. They moved to Lebanon, Ore., in 1946 and to Sweet Home, Ore., in 1971.Mrs. Collins was a member of the Baptist Church. She loved roses, crocheting and her family.She was preceded in death by her husband; by a son, Walter Collins; by a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Collins; by a grandson, Scott Collins; and by brothers Dave, Ed and Frank Godsy.Mrs. Collins is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Dorothy and Orville Forister of Sweet Home, and Dee and Ron Blacklaw of Albany, Ore.; by a son and daughter-in-law, Floyd E. “Bodie” and Virginia Collins of Glenwood Springs; and by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held today at the Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel in Sweet Home, Ore. Burial will follow at Gilliland Cemetery.
