Maurine Rosalie Bryant Kunze

Maurine Rosalie Bryant Kunze of Glenwood Springs died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Glen Valley Care Center. She was 95.

She was born June 27, 1907, in Glenwood Springs to Ida Pauline Claudon and Roscoe Earl Bryant.

Aftra graduating from Garfield County High School in Glenwood Springs, she studied voice at Denver College of Music, and pursued her voice career in New York City. Singing remained an interest throughout her life.

She married Max Curt Kunze on Nov. 7, 1938, in New Jersey. They lived in New York.

Mrs. Kunze worked as the assistant manager at the Antoine Beauty Salon at Saks 5th Avenue. Her husband worked as a stylist for Charles of the Ritz at the Ritz-Carlton.

They later opened their own beauty salon in Scarsdale, N.Y. In 1963, they retired and moved to Glenwood Springs.

Mrs. Kunze volunteered for Valley View Hospital as a pink lady. She and Mr. Kunze also traveled extensively and collected art.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Kunze, in 1991.

Mrs. Kunze is survived by a sister-in-law, Bertha Kearns of Aptos, Calif., and by several cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs, with the Rev. Roy Altman officiating.

Farnum-Holt Funeral Home of Glenwood Springs is in charge of arrangements.
