Mayo’s fight strictly between him and Garfield P&Z

Bob Mayo

Dear Editor,I wish to thank you for the article your reporter did on my project of correcting a bad situation in the Planning and Zoning Department of Garfield County. Although the problems have not been addressed yet, they have offered a solution. To all the residents of Garfield County who have inundated me with comments and support, I give you my heart-felt thanks. To the person who wrote the letter questioning our meeting building code, this has never been a problem. The Legion has a policy in the Post of no drugs, alcohol, or loud conduct. I checked the membership roster and didn’t find your name, so I will not send you a copy of the plans and future plans of the Post, and suffice to say your letter demonstrates why the unenlightened input from outside-the-area residents is irrelevant, incorrect and unnecessary. To the other person who opposed my action, a local city employee, I can only say you, of all people, disputing my right to seek redress of excesses of government employees is disheartening and makes me wonder. I wish to again make clear, this matter is between me and the county building and zoning department, and in no way supported by any Post of the American Legion. The gift my wife and I made only made possible this course of action to rectify a very serious flaw in county government as exercised by the planing department.Bob MayoNew Castle
