Media ignored real news to cover Kobe

Dear Editor,

The corporate media circus at the Eagle County Court gives a clear picture of what the national media corporations think is important in the world. While wars rage, the economy stagnates, social safety nets unravel, the environment is under full court corporate attack, U.S. troops find themselves in a quagmire and the un-elected president is once again AWOL at his ranch, the corporate media seeks another O. J. or Ramsey case with which to distract and befuddle the nation.

A new important book gives a detailed description of how the corporate media performed their role of manufacturing consent for the war on the people of Iraq: Weapons of Mass Deception. The secret world of public relations firms, spin doctors, weasel words, implanted reporters, and the world of professional liars and deceivers is explored in detail.

The media might have set up camp at Offutt Air Force Base near Omaha, where a top secret meeting of corporate, political, and scientific Dr. Strangeloves convened on Aug. 6, Hiroshima Day, to plan a new program of nuclear weapons development and testing. A leaked document to the Los Alamos Study Group blew the meeting’s cover. At Offutt the media could have covered a story with long term significance for the survival of humanity and been a presence demanding the right of the public to know what was happening. Instead, in their lap-dog role, they chose cheap sensationalism at Eagle.

Reporter/journalists or circus performers?
