Meet Doc in person on the Ghost Walk

It takes guts to walk through a cemetery at night. Especially when it’s populated with talking ghosts.

The annual Ghost Walk is coming to Glenwood Springs soon, combining history with a little bit of fright.

Tickets for the Frontier Historical Society’s annual fund-raiser are now on sale. Tickets are $15, or $10 for Frontier Historical Society members. They are available for purchase with credit card by calling 945-4448 or purchase tickets in person at the Frontier Historical Museum, 1001 Colorado Ave., or at Through the Looking Glass bookstore, 816 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs.

Dates for the Ghost Walk are Oct. 14-16 and 21-23. Tours are at 7:00, 7:45, 8:30 and 9:15 on Fridays and Saturdays; and 7:00, 7:45 and 8:30 on Sundays.

Meet at the trailhead to Linwood (Pioneer) Cemetery at 12th and Bennett where tour guides lead you up to and through Glenwood’s oldest cemetery. You may meet “Doc” Holliday and many other Glenwood Springs pioneers, and hear their stories. There are different performers each weekend. Bring a flashlight or lantern and dress appropriately for the weather. Kerosene lanterns are also available for purchase at the trailhead for $10. Be advised that the hike to the cemetery is moderately strenuous.

As the museum is closed to visitors this week, those wishing to purchase Ghost Walk tickets can still call 945-4448 with credit card reservations, or stop by the museum and ring the doorbell between the hours of 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m.

Don’t get scared, now.
