Melvin R. Davis September 12, 1923 – April 16, 2005

Melvin R. Davis, a longtime resident of the Glenwood Springs and Carbondale areas, died of complications of pneumonia on April 16, 2005.He was born Sept. 12, 1923, in Fort Collins.Melvin was a member of the American Legion and Elks organizations. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater.He retired from Lockheed-Martin after nearly 30 years of employment.During the past two years, he resided at the Colorado State Veterans Home in Rifle.Melvin is survived by daughter Denyce Powell, of Vancouver, Wash.; stepchildren Joe Davis, of Casper, Wyo., Lana Carnevale and Tana Lansford, of Fort Collins; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.A memorial will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the American Legion Hall in Carbondale. Following cremation, interment will be at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.
