Memories & Milestones
Twenty-four members of the Roaring Fork Women’s Triathlon Team were proud to pose following their participation in the 2009 Strawberry Shortcut June 21, 2009. Members ran in memory of little Franklin Flohr and sported T-shirts sponsored by Berthod Motors in his honor. Assistant Coach Nuckols placed third in the 5K 64-69 age group; Coach Reinisch won the 10K 55-59 age group; member Jeanne Sheriff placed second in the same age group; members Sharie Prow placed second in the 5K 50-54 age group and Vreneli Diemoz placed third in the 5K 40-44 age group. Many members completed their first-ever 5K and are still smiling to tell about it. The 60-member team will continue to train for the Tri For The Cure triathlon in August.
A surprise retirement party was given for Bert Garlitz, who retired from the Garfield County Road and Bridge Department after 45 years of service. The party was at the Rifle Senior Center on Saturday, June 20, at 2 p.m., and was given by members of his family.
