Manon Jacob, Emily Hauptli and Olivia Hawkins were on the Harding University dean’s list for the spring semester. Jacob was majoring in marketing, Hauptli in English and Hawkins in psychology. To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours, with a 3.65 or higher grade point average and no incompletes.

Daniel Deming of Rifle, has earned a bachelor’s degree in computer gaming and design from Westwood College in Denver.

Eight local soccer players participated in the Dana Cup in Frederikshavn, Denmark, and the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, July 6-18. Megan Gould, Jacqueline Arqueta, Kyle Snyder, Danielle Turley, Jacqueline Knott, Mats Rosen and Natasha Jordan, all of Glenwood Springs, and Lauren Jacobson of New Castle were members of National Soccer Academy teams that competed in the tournaments. The National Soccer Academy boys 15 team won the Dana Cup B Bracket Trophy. The girls 16 team was a semifinalist in the Dana Cup and the girls 14 team was a semifinalist in the Gothia Cup. The area players competed against teams from Sweden, Norway, Brazil, Russia, Scotland and Germany during the tournament, which featured teams from all over the world. Glenwood Springs Soccer Club Director of Coaching Brad Jordan and coach Wayne Smith accompanied and coached the players during the tournament. National Soccer Academy hosts a one-week camp and tryout for Eurotour teams in Glenwood Springs in June. In addition to the tournaments, players stay and train at a soccer club in Gothenburg and tour Copenhagen, Denmark, and Stockholm, Sweden.
