YouthZone Pals Mentoring Program recently received a check from Chevron in the amount of $7,500 to support mentoring pairs in western Garfield County. This is the second year Chevron has supported YouthZone.YouthZone Pals Mentoring program continues to recruit and train teen and adult volunteers to mentor youth ages 6-14 in Garfield County. Atop Vail Mountain with the Mount of the Holy Cross beside them, Andrea Messier and Lane Wentland were united in marriage March 19, 2009.They became husband and wife encircled by the people that have filled their lives with happiness, laughter and, most of all, love. The newlyweds skied down Vail Mountain side by side. On the bridge at the bottom of the mountain their family and friends extended their ski poles in an archway as the couple skied under, beginning their life together. Andrea is the daughter of Gail Boesch of Battlement Mesa, and Joseph and Joyce Messier of Eagle. Andrea spent her childhood in Rifle and graduated from Eagle Valley class of 1999. Lane is the son of Bill and Betty Wentland of Hazelhurst, Wis. The couple call Avon home.

Brandi and Brian Austin of Rifle announce the birth of their new daughter, Emily Grace Austin, born at 11:25 a.m. Aug. 9 at Valley View Hospital. Emily weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and measured 19 inches. She joins sister Stacee, 11, and brother Cameron, 3. Grandparents are Louise Austin of New Castle and Sara Watkins of El Jebel.
