The members of Garfield County Search and Rescue Inc. would like to thank Mountain Air Mechanical, Mark Fergen and everybody else who contributed to the success of their seventh annual golf tournament/ fundraiser. Mountain Air Mechanical has donated the proceeds from the golf tournament to Garfield County Search and Rescue Inc. for the past two years. The 2009 donation was for $9,785. All donations are used for the replacement of search and rescue equipment and/or search and rescue training for members.

Erin Gorsett of Silt was recently named to the Montana State University 2009 fall semester honor roll.Gorsett’s 3.5 grade point average earned her a place on the dean’s honor roll list.



The parents and family of Julia Steindler would like to announce her engagement to Capt. Henry J. Hortenstine USMC. They will be married in the Roaring Fork Valley in August. Congratulations, Julia and Hank!

Happy 65th wedding anniversary to Arlen and Edith West!Arlen and Edith West of rural Silt marked their 65th wedding anniversary on Jan. 24, 2010. The marriage of Arlen West to the former Edith Loewe took place in Garnett, Kan., on Jan. 24, 1945.Arlen served four years in the Army Air Force in World War II. He then worked for a construction company for nine years and J.J. Case Co., Industrial Division, for 26 years. During that time, they lived in a number states.After Arlen retired on July 1, 1984, they moved to a small ranch south of Silt. They have three children; Ron of Silt, Steve of Rifle and Phyllis of Boca Raton, Fla. They have six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
