Don’t worry Glenwood, you’re safe now. These new young protectors recently graduated from James Lee’s Successful Kids After School Program at Sopris Elementary.Eighty-two children participated in this great karate program focusing on manners, discipline, character, respect, control and self-esteem. Graduation was held at the James Lee’s Dojo, located on 2826 S. Glen Ave. on Feb. 6, where parents had an opportunity to see firsthand how this program helped not only their children but their school. If you need help with your kids, give us a call 401-1558.

Brian and Jeanne Gibson are proud to announce the birth of their first born, Bridget Ann Gibson. She was born on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at 6:09 in the morning. She weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and measured 181⁄2 inches long. Proud local grandparents are Bill and Pam Gibson of Carbondale. They would like to thank the Family Birthplace and Dr. LeAnn Kocher for all their patience.

The winner of the Rifle Snowmobile Club’s 17th annual poker run held on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, was Shane Fazzi of Grand Junction, who won $500 with four jacks. Shane is the president of Club Carleton Hoffmeister. Second place for $250 was taken by Orrin Moon of Silt with four fives; third place ($150) went to John Kuerston of Rulison with a full house of three kings and two nines; and fourth place ($100) was Kevin Daughtery of Carbondale with a full house of three fours and two kings. Congratulations to all the poker run participants.



Congratulations to Shenanigans, this year’s Carbondale Recreation broomball champions. Finishing the season in second place with a 5-0-2 record, Shenanigans bested their competition in the championship game with an exciting overtime finish. The team comprised the following players: Matt Donnelly, Travis Green, Ben Fedishen, Bryan Donnelly, Lance Ammerman, Mollie Harte, Jane Douglass, Sara Hagopian, Dave Fink, Justin Blanke, Jackie Vosler and Kelly Shanahan. Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2009-2010 broomball season, and we hope to see you on the ice next December.
