The Brian Mable Karate School of the Western Tang Soo Do Federation recently held a test for advancement of rank. The students listed and shown have proven to the examination board that all skills have been learned for the level of rank achieved. The students were tested on their knowledge of strikes, blocks, forms, one-step sparring and self-defense.Congratulations to all for a great demonstration of Tang Soo Do Karate.

A celebration for Hilda will be Saturday, Feb. 27, at the St. Stephen’s Catholic Church basement from 2-4 p.m. Stop by and say “hi”. Cards are welcome, no gifts please.

Steve and Carla Ostberg of Carbondale welcomed home a daughter on Jan. 27, 2010. Sydney Raye Ostberg was born at Valley View Hospital, weighed 6 pounds and 4 ounces, and was 18.5 inches long. She joins older sister Jenna and canine siblings Casey and Champ.Her proud grandparents are Mike and Linda Ostberg, and Chuck and Mary Kay Block of Silt and Winter, Wis.Great-grandparents are Dick and Neva Ostberg, and Leaf and Rene Erickson of Irwin, Idaho, and Emery, Utah.



The staff at the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle elected Elmer Holmes as Valentine’s Day King and Irene Eckert as Valentine’s Day Queen 2010. Elmer and Irene both turned 99 years of age in February.

Students at Glenwood Springs Elementary School have greater awareness of people in need through their fundraiser, Hearts and Helping Hands for Haiti. The students raised $622.92, which will be sent to Samaritan’s Purse for direct aid to Haiti.
