The Glenwood Springs Percussion Ensemble returned from the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association State Competition with a second place finish in their division. The event took place at the Budweiser event center in Loveland April 3. The GSHS Ensemble also took second place at the WGI Regional Competition in Northglen on March 20. The ensemble has been nipping at the heels of first place finisher Golden High School and closed the gap further at the state event. The Glenwood group posted a final score of 88. This score is among the top 6 ensembles in this class across the nation. The ensemble will head to Dayton, Ohio to participate in the WGI World Competition on April 15. The group is competing with an inaugural composition entitled “Where the Rivers Meet: Impressions of Glenwood Springs, Colorado.” Watch for local performances of the GSHS Percussion Ensemble show on the stage at Strawberry Days and at the Glenwood Springs Birthday Picinic on July 4.The ensemble is under the direction of Adam Solomon. Members of the 2010 ensemble are: Carson Wilde, Garrett Noel, Lisa Atkinson, Cole Newton, Geoff Moore, Jake Lincoln, Nick Zilm, Aneleise Basile, Claire Miller, Brittany Cody, Caitlyn Petts, Angela Frale, Nico Tonozzi,Macrissa McGonigle, Joanne Rowe, Christian Carmino, Sarah Orr, Lynsey Atkinson, Beckett Martin, Adriano Guerrero and Cullen Beckler.
