The Exdo Event Center in Denver was smoking Friday night and the crowd was all fired up. Organizers estimate 1,000 eager women came out to see 37 firefighters, including Glenwood Springs’ Bryan Wootten, audition for the 2011 Fired Up For Kids Calendar. Fired up for Kids is a nonprofit organization that donates all of its proceeds to the Children’s Hospital Burn Center. Over the last six years they have raised more than $350,000. The beefcake style calendar will go on sale sometime later this fall.

On March 6, six members of the Glenwood Springs Kiwanis Club climbed Williams Peak and placed an American flag on the top of the Peak. This photo is a follow-up picture of the flag, taken April 12 by Harlan Porter. As you can see there’s still lots of snow and it’s a little on the windy side.
