Ross and Amanda Long of Silt announce the birth of their son Chayton Ironshell Long. He was born at 11:48 p.m. June 22, 2010, weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19 inches long. He joins Dylan, 11, Brooke, 10, and Joslyn, 7. His grandparents are Raymond and Alice Long of Glenwood Springs.
The Glenwood Springs Art Guild would like to recognize the winners from two recent art shows in the state. For the Cedaredge “Edge of Cedars” art show the winners are as follows: Portia Griefenberg took a second place in the professional category with oil-acrylic; Noemi Kosmowski took a first place in the professional category for her oil-acrylic; and Arlene Law took an honorable mention in the professional category for her mixed media. The winners from the Black Canyon Art Exhibition in Hotchkiss were as follows: Sally Thompson took first in professional for her still life, and also a third place for her landscape; Noemi Kosmowski took a third place for her still life and also a first and second place in figure category; and Arlene Law took a third place in the figure category. The Glenwood Springs Art Guild will be holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1630 Grand Ave. in Glenwood Springs. The demonstration this month will be given by Ann Gaechter on the subject of “Watercolor Glazing – Laying Foundation for Your Painting.” A short business meeting will follow the demonstration, and as always meetings are open to the public, and refreshments will be served.
