Kyler Smith, a sophomore at Palisade High School, qualified to play in the 4A state golf tournament at the Club at Flying Horse in Colorado Springs, Oct. 4-5. Smith had a 74 and 76 for a total score of 150, which gave him a tie for 11th place in a field of 84 players. Smith is the son of Dr. Tod Smith of Rifle, and the grandson of Jack and Barbara Smith, also of Rifle.

Glenwood Springs identifies gas line break on Midland Avenue; traffic to resume early afternoon
After a gas line break was identified at the intersection of Midland Avenue and Mt. Sopris Drive, traffic is expected to resume at 1:30 p.m., the city said.
