On Saturday, Aug. 13, Holy Cross Energy had its annual golf tournament. For the second year the Pitkin Eagle Garfield Damage Prevention Council was given the opportunity to sell mulligans to raise money for damage prevention. This year PEGDPC partnered with Circle of Hope, a charity that benefits wounded warriors. They raised a total of $1,365, of which $750 went to assist wounded warriors.

HiPoint Motorsports in Glenwood Springs is pleased to announce that Charity Oyler, of Glenwood Springs, was the grand prize winner in our 2011 Good Times Sales Event Giveaway. Charity has won a brand new 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 250. Thank you to all our loyal customers who entered and we are elated that our winner was chosen from among you.

Pie winners in the fruit pie category were: first place to Sarah Sanderman with her Caramel Apple with Rosemary Oat Crust, second place to Sharill Hawkins with her Peach Raspberry Gingham Pie and third place to Dawn McKinley with her Apple Streusel Pie. In the cream category, first place (and grand prize) to Sharill Hawkins with her Lemon Custard Blueberry Swirl, second place to Cindy Svatos with her Margarita Pie and third place to Jan Aspelund with her Peanut Butter Pie. In the exotic category, first place went to Kim Martin with her Pennsylvanian Mennonite Vanilla Crumb Pie, second place to Cindy Svatos with her Holy Guacamole Pie and third place to Sara Sanderman’s Delicate Lumber Jack Macadamia Kahlua Pie.



Three generations participated in the Tri for the Cure at Cherry Creek Reservoir: Barbara Barnes, her three daughters and three of her granddaughters.
