The family of Margery Costanzo invites friends to attend a celebration in honor of Costanzo’s 90th birthday. The celebration will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, from 1-4 p.m. at the Rifle Senior Center located at 50 Ute Ave. in Rifle.

Bob and Betsy Schenck of Carbondale celebrated their 60th anniversary on Dec. 17, 2011. The couple celebrated this momentous occasion by renewing their wedding vows at the chapel in which they were married (St. Martin’s Chapel, Denver). Their family was in attendance.Bob and Betsy’s children are Susan Schenck, Barbara Hale, Bob Schenck Jr., Patty Naft, Paula Byra and John Schenck. There are 14 grandchildren.Betsy taught music and drama privately and at CMC. Bob is an active member and finance officer of the Carbondale American Legion Post 100.

Report: Estimates of future Upper Colorado River Basin water use confound previous planning

A report released this month by the Center for Colorado River Studies says that in order to sustainably manage the river in the face of climate change, officials need alternative management paradigms and a different way of thinking compared with the status quo. Estimates about how much water the Upper Colorado River Basin states will use in the future are a problem that needs rethinking, according to the white paper.
