For the third year, the Denver Broncos cheer final auditions were open to the public and, before the competition started, it was sold out. Glenwood Springs High School cheerleaders Courtney Olson and Hanna Elwell attended the final audition, which unveiled the 2012-2013 squad, at the Performing Arts Complex in Denver. Competitions began earlier in the week, with about 200 competitors, and was narrowed down to 67 finalists competing for 26 spots, which in the end turned into 27 new cheerleaders because of the fierce competition. Among the large group of elite judges was Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas.

The Cub Scouts of Den 10, New Castle, recently completed the installation of a new tetherball pole at Hot Shot Park in New Castle’s Castle Valley Ranch neighborhood. The Scouts hope it will be a welcome addition to the park for years to come.

Tracy and Krissa Grant of Rifle are pleased to announce the birth of their son Joshua S. Grant. Joshua was born at 8:19 p.m. April 14, 2012, at Valley View Hospital. He weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 21 inches long at birth.He joins Zander, 5, and Donaven, 3.Grandparents are Jack and Linda Grant of Grand Junction and Deb Smith of New Castle.
