Five teams from the Garfield School District Re-2 competed at the state tournament for Destination ImagiNation on Saturday, April 14, in Denver. Two of those teams, Berry Fatality from Coal Ridge High School and That One Team from Rifle Middle School, each took third place in their respective challenges, and qualified to compete at the Destination ImagiNation Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn., at the end of May.Due to budget cuts, the school district will not pay the expenses for this competition, so teams are facing the challenge of raising approximately $8,000 each for the global tournament. This covers all travel, registration, rooms and board. The teams are willing to work for donations, or fundraise in cooperation with a business or group. Any individual, business, or organization wishing to make a donation to help send these teams to Tennessee should contact the team managers. Team Managers are Karren Valenteen (Berry Fatality), 274-8121 or 665-7871, and Kathy Goodman (That One Team), 274-8509 or 665-6791.
