On May 19, David Hayes of Carbondale participated in the MS Walk for Life in memory of his sister Judy. David collected more than $1,000 in pledges in less than four days. In a letter, Hayes wrote:”I miss my sister Judy – she was fun. She was my Special Olympics coach for swimming and skiing and also loved to shoot hoops.”Thanks to all my Carbondale friends for helping me remember her and helping me raise lots of money for the MS Walk last Saturday.”

Keith and Kelly Eshback of Wilton, N.H., and Howard and Mary Jay of Glenwood Springs announce the engagement of their children Sarah Eshback and Steve Jay.Sarah attended Montana State University-Bozeman and is currently manager of La Parilla Restaurant in Bozeman.Steve attended Montana State University and is working at the Yellowstone Ecological Research Center.Sarah and Steve will be married in September 2012 in Paradise Valley, Mont.

In April, the Rifle High School bands and choirs competed at the Colorado West Invitational in Grand Junction. The Varsity and Bel Canto choirs received I ratings and Outstanding Ensemble Awards for best I-IIIA choirs. The Concert Band received a I and the Jazz Band received a II. Rifle High School also received the Sweepstakes Award crediting Rifle High School with having the best overall choir and band programs out of all of the I-IIIA schools that competed there.
