John and Jennifer Rose and Robert Lyons would like to announce the marriage of their daughter Chrystal Marie Lyons to Jesse Shane Lough, son of Brent and Roxanne Lough. The couple were married at River Valley Ranch in Carbondale on July 7, 2012. We are so happy to announce the marriage.

Army Staff Sgt. Molly R. Griffiths has returned to the U.S. after being deployed overseas at a forward operating base to serve in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.Operation Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Active duty and reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. armed forces have been deployed to support the war against global terrorism outside the borders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South, Southwest and Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, the Horn of Africa, islands in the Pacific, and Europe.Griffiths is a squad leader with the 164th Military Police Company based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. She has served six years in the military.She is the daughter of Tim and Cathy Lewis of Rifle.

Kate and Joey Crabb celebrated their first wedding anniversary on July 5, 2012, with the gift of Chloe Jeaux.Ecstatic grandparents are Cam and Dick Ziminski of Salida and Deb and Roger Crabb of Glenwood Springs.



County Commissioners Mike Samson and John Martin represented Garfield County at the dedication and presentation of the sculptures accenting the entryway of the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle. The sculptures – “Mutton Bustin'” and “Team Ropin'” – are now officially the property of the county, and have been an ongoing project proposed by Community Newspapers of Colorado Inc. and brought to fruition with the participation of Jolley/Potter Centennial Ranches and the Rifle Community Foundation, thus completing the fairgrounds entryway improvements that were initiated by the Garfield County commissioners some years ago. Other participants in the dedication were members of the Potter family (Sam and Terri, their{two older} children and grandchildren), officers and members of the Rifle Community Foundation (Katie Mackley, Karen Rhoades, John Burwell, Tom Stuver), members of Community Newspapers of Colorado Inc. (Tom Stuver, Monica Miller, Helen Rogers, Randy Winkler, Gil Frontella, Elizabeth Stuver, Jodie Winkler), and members of the Garfield County Fair board (Kip Costanzo, Levi Burris, Ilene Sheets), as well as other interested community members.
