Messy desk raises concern

Dear Editor,

First thanks to Tina Holtz for being the first to comment on the photo that appeared on the front page of the paper showing the County Clerk’s desk literally piled with paperwork. Letters of support and comments in the article show that Mildred Alsdorf has been very appreciated in her position, however setting sentiments aside I have to agree whole heartedly with Ms. Holtz that it is truly disturbing to see such a mess and lack of organization in an important local government office. How could that have been allowed to get to that point! Didn’t Mildred have someone to answer to besides the good people who have elected her but might never see the top of her desk? That obvious mess and disorganization couldn’t help but lead to a waste of time and money, which is unacceptable to any taxpayer not to mention the poor folks who actually have missing documents or delays in processing. Congratulations to the new County Clerk and let us hope that while she has been “politically correct” in her comments that she sees the need for change in the area of cleaning things up and getting organized. Now that the entire valley has had a bird’s eye view of Mildred’s desk I am sure people will be asking questions of the successor who worked in the same office for so many years.
