Michael Conrad Trout

Michael Conrad Trout, of Grand Junction, Colo., died Monday, April 22, 2002, at his home. He was 70.

Mr. Trout was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Las Animas, Colo., and raised in Glenwood Springs, Colo., by his adoptive parents, Jessie and Helen Trout.

He was a talented rodeo rider, and his specialty was bareback broncs. His mother also taught him watercolor and pen and ink drawing, and art became a major focus of his life.



He began sculpting in 1974, and used his talented hands to capture Western culture.

He married Jean Burdick and the couple had four children. They divorced in 1968.



He married Myra Marie Pitts in 1974, and together they raised five children.

Mr. Trout is survived by: wife Myra, of Grand Junction; sons Michael Trout, of Alliance, Neb., Jason Trout, of DeBeque, Colo., and Jesse Trout, of Fruita, Colo.; daughters Ila Walck, of Grand Junction, Judy Bott, of Rupert, Idaho, Norma Handley, of Clifton, Colo., and Sara Reel, of Parachute, Colo.; step-daughters Debora Petersen, of Casper, Wyo., and Diana Boydston, of Grand Junction; brother Johnny Brennan, of Stranton, Neb.; sister, Cathline Ondrusek, of Arvada; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary in Grand Junction. Burial will follow in Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.
