After a long battle with cancer, Mike McCrary, 57, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side. He went home to be with Jesus, his lord and savior, on Friday, Nov. 5.Mike retired from the city of Glenwood Springs in December of 2003 after 24 years. Mike was born in Sherman, Texas on Nov. 2, 1947, to Mac and Jean McCrary. He served four years in the Navy aboard the USS Ticonderoga with three tours of Vietnam.Mike married Julie Gould in Meeker on Jan. 12, 1969. They had two children. Mike is survived by his loving wife and his two children, Pam (Bob) Harris of Rifle, and Shane (Anne) McCrary of Silt, as well as his sister Alice Norvell of Meeker. He is also survived by three grandchildren, who were the joy of his life: Michael Shane McCrary Jr., Haley Anne McCrary and Kylee Marie Harris. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joe McCrary.Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at New Creation Church of Glenwood Springs in Canyon Creek.
