Midvalley bank robbed; search for suspects under way

EL JEBEL – Basalt police and Pitkin County deputies are sweeping the El Jebel City Market area and Sopris Village neighborhood seeking one or more persons who robbed the Vectra Bank branch at 218 E. Valley Road at about 10:50 a.m. Friday.

A deputy and police officer were investigating in the bank branch, which is in a commercial center that fronts East Valley Road, between Movieland and Highway 82. Law enforcement officials were asking pedestrians in the area if they saw a person or persons dressed in black fleeing the bank.

The bank branch had a sign on it saying it was temporarily closed. There was no ambulance on scene or any sign that anyone was injured.
