SILT – Hundreds of live Main lobsters claw their way on to plates in Silt this weekend. The Miner’s Claim hosts its first lobster bake starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. The meal features lobster bisque, hug-baked potatoes, live Maine Lobster flown fresh from its namesake state, sweetcorn and live acoustic music. “I’ve never really done anything like this at the Miner’s Claim before,” owner Christian Harra said. “We’ve really stuck to the status quo there.”The Miner’s Claim opened in 1999 and has provided something a little out of the ordinary downvalley ever since. It’s known for its upscale food and extensive martini menu. But events like Saturday’s lobster bake are a break from the norm for the restaurant.”There are a lot of people from the east coast living out here,” Harra said. “I’m one of them. And you can’t find lobster like this anywhere else around here.”Customers who aren’t interested in lobster can order from a special menu Saturday night. The restaurant is still open to the public, though tickets for the lobster bake are limited.”This is going to be great, something different,” Harra said. “We hope to make it an annual event.”Rock LobsterWhat: Lobster bake with live acoustic musicWhere: Miner’s Claim in SiltWhen: SaturdayHow much: $44 including tax and tip
