Missing you at McDonald’s

Dear Editor,

I saw the elderly lady in McDonald’s about three years ago and saw the same manager working last Sunday. I wanted to share this story and asked her if she knew the name of the lady that would come in for breakfast and set up her husband’s picture before she ate. She said, “Oh, Lucille. We haven’t seen her for some time.”

The time I experienced Lucille my head was buried in a Sunday newspaper, and she was sitting at the other small table in front of me. When she turned around and struck up a conversation with me, I could see her husband’s framed photo on her table.

Hon, this is how much I’m missing you! I sit at the table as close as I can get to the retired guys that come in every morning, so I can look at your face and hear their voices.

And Hon, you picked a good time to leave, Lucille.
