Mix of trail activities offered June 3

Turn off the TV, grab your pack and go take a hike. On June 3, the White River National Forest (WRNF) wants you to stop by the Hanging Lake trailhead to hear about safe backcountry travel and then head for the hills. The American Hiking Society, Forest Conservancy and the WRNF will celebrate National Trails Day on June 3 with a gaggle of educational activities at the Hanging Lake Trailhead. Speakers will make presentations about Leave No Trace wilderness ethics and search and rescue, and there will be a talk by Woodsy Owl. Summit Canyon Mountaineering will also present a hiking gear demonstration.National Trails Day is the largest single-day celebration of trails and the joys of hiking.
