Model railroaders show off layouts at Hotel Colorado

Staff Report

Trains, trains and more trains will fill the main floor of the Hotel Colorado this weekend as the Roaring Fork Valley Model Railroaders presents its 10th annual train show.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Model railroaders from across Colorado and the West will bring their own recreations of scale-model trains to the show. Among them are an HO-scale layout from Estes Park, a Lionel O-gauge from Salt Lake City and the Roaring Fork Valley club’s HO layout. There’ll also be a narrow gauge HO layout and an S-gauge layout as well.

Layouts are designed to fit together into one huge display.

The Glenwood Springs club has about 20 members from Basalt to Grand Junction.

In addition, there will also be a switching layout for people of all ages to try their hand at driving a model train. And there will be vendors selling train hobby material, paintings and more.
