More nighttime closures in Glenwood Canyon
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado Both lanes of eastbound Interstate 70 traffic in Glenwood Canyon will be stopped again tonight for up to two hours each time. Additional stops are possible Thursday night as well, according to Colorado Department of Transportation spokesperson Nancy Shanks.Work to replace variable message signs will require a full stop of all eastbound traffic from midnight until 1:30 a.m. tonight, and again from 2 a.m. to 3:30 a.m.Crews continue work to install two of the four new variable message signs for eastbound I-70 travel just west of Hanging Lake Tunnel in Glenwood Canyon. Traffic stops are required for setting the signs over travel lanes and allowing adjustment time and concrete curing.Motorists needing to get to get to the Front Range in the morning should plan to travel east before midnight. Check Alerts & Restrictions at http://www.cotrip.org for confirmation of tomorrow nights closures.CDOT Maintenance and ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) are working with a contractor to replace four of the electronic signs for eastbound travel on I-70 west of Hanging Lake Tunnel. The eastbound left lane will remain closed on from mile point 124 to 125.9 (from just west of the tunnel through to the east side) until late May.
