Morning Structure Fire in Glenwood on Maple Street ‘under control within 20 minutes’
The Glenwood Springs Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Maple Street Friday morning.
According to a news release, the fire department received the call at 7:20 a.m. and within 20 minutes had it under control.
Upon arriving at the scene, fire fighters encountered heavy smoke from within the home where the fire was burning.
Firefighters immediately removed an occupant from the home and then began offensive fire suppression operations according to the news release.
One occupant was transported to Valley View Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Four engines, two ambulances, a command vehicle and 13 firefighters including mutual aid from Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District and Colorado River Fire Rescue responded to the fire, which is currently being investigated by members of the Garfield County Fire Investigation team.
The cause of the fire was not yet available.

UPDATED: I-70 open both directions Monday morning following Sunday night crash closure
Update 6 a.m. Monday: I-70 eastbound was reopened between mile markers 105 and 114, New Castle to Glenwood Springs, just before 3 a.m. after an overnight closure due to a minor injury, multi-vehicle crash.
