Mother arrested in slaying of Steamboat Springs infant

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) A 33-year-old Steamboat Springs woman has been jailed on suspicion of murder in the death of her 1-year-old daughter.Authorities say Luz Devina Cisneros was arrested Thursday after Brianna Simon was found injured and unconscious at the apartment they shared with Briannas father.Brianna was pronounced dead at a hospital.Authorities say Cisneros was treated for a self-inflicted neck injury. They would not say what kind of weapon had caused her injuries or her childs.Police went to the apartment after Briannas father, Simon Urrutia, reported that Cisneros was threatening to hurt the infant and herself.It was the first homicide in Steamboat Springs since May 2000.Information from: Steamboat Pilot & Today, http://www.steamboatpilot.com/
