Mountain Cup soccer thanks
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your coverage of the 1st Annual Colorado Mountain Cup soccer tournament on July 13 and 14. The tournament was a great success and could not have been possible without the help of many our community businesses.
There were 23 teams playing a total of 37 games in two days. With great competition, three of the four championship games went into overtime. A local area team, Liga de Carbondale, won the men’s championship, with the women’s open championship going to the Women of Vail in a shootout win over the favored FC Littleton. The women’s over 25 group was won by the Vipers of Denver. The coed championship victory was captured by Columbia of Denver in a shootout. Trophies were awarded to each champion as well as the 2nd and 3rd place teams.
The Colorado State Soccer Association has indicated the Colorado Mountain Cup could now be considered the “premier” mountain soccer tournament in Colorado. The future of this tournament is very bright, and I welcome you to continue as a tournament partner.
A very big thank you to all of our sponsors, including the Hotel Colorado for the team and referee reception, and the other lodging sponsors Hotel Denver, Ramada Inn, and the Caravan Inn. Thanks to the Glenwood Chamber Resort Association and Dos Hombres Restaurant for the referee dinner on Saturday. Thanks to Tom Boas and crew Sodexho (food services), Larry and staff at Funland, and Adam Perau and staff at Pro Sports Polaris for their valuable and important contributions, and to H.A. at The Pro Shop for the quick service on the trophies. Your participation as sponsors in the Colorado Mountain Cup made a huge difference in the success of the tournament!
I would like to give a very special thank you to the personal friends that stepped up to make my job easier, David O’Leary, Dena Duke, Tiffanie Miller, Robin VerSchneider, Kevin White, Cameron Fisher and Joy Rasmussen, you guys saved me!
