Nettie Frances Smith Everard

Nettie Frances Smith Everard died Thursday, March 28, 2002, in Menominee, Mich. She was 81.

She was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Carbondale to Roger and Elsie Anna (Fenton) Smith. The family moved to Marble in 1924, and to Leadville in 1936.

In 1939, the Smith family moved to Glenwood Springs, where she graduated from Garfield County High School.



She married Eugene Everard in Aug. 4, 1944, in Washington state. Mrs. Everard was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church of Glenwood Springs. She loved to play the piano, knit, crochet and embroider.

She was preceded in death by her husband and by a son, Steve Everard.



Mrs. Everard is survived by sons Gregg and Mark Everard of Menominee, Mich.; daughters Donna Stage, Mary E. Land and Connie Everard, all of Menominee; a sister, Nora Smith of Carbondale; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has occurred. A memorial service will be held in Michigan. Burial will be later at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs. Farnum Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs is in charge of arrangements.
