New astronomy club to scope out the skies

The Roaring Fork Sky Watchers, a new club of amateur astronomy buffs, will gather to gaze at the sky from 8-11 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the Spring Gulch Nordic Center parking lot, near Carbondale.

All ages are welcome, but leave pets at home. The event will offer an opportunity to view celestial bodies through a variety of telescopes. In the event of overcast skies, there will be a demonstration of telescopes and presentation of astronomy-related websites at the Colorado Mountain College Lappala Center in Carbondale. Reservations are required; call Chris Lazo at 963-8049 or 925-3757, ext. 2440.
