New Castle fire officially contained

NEW CASTLE ” The Rock’n Pine Fire, which burned 15 acres of Bureau of Land Management Land northeast of New Castle, was declared 100 percent contained this morning. Roughly 60 personnel were demobilized from the incident this morning.

Over an inch of rain fell in the burn area over the weekend, which aided firefighters in tackling the blaze. The fire began on Saturday from a lightning strike.
