New Castle man formally charged for child porn

A 57-year-old New Castle man was formally charged in the Ninth Judicial District Court on Wednesday with 20 child pornography charges and four counts of drug-related charges, according to the district attorney’s office.Frank P. Alameno was arrested on Sept. 13 in Rifle after a family member reported to authorities finding child pornography on Alameno’s computer, as well as suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and drug paraphernalia at his home in New Castle.Alameno is the owner of the Sportsman’s Barn Taxidermy in north Rifle.”There were about 20 charges of possession of child pornography, but the investigation into the computer is not yet completed,” Beeson said. “And we’re not limited to the charges that were filed today. If, in the near future, it is appropriate to do so, we can add more charges. But right now the forensic investigation is ongoing.”According to assistant district attorney Jeff Cheney, Alameno appeared in court on Wednesday to face the felony charges. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 16.Alameno posted a $100,000 bond shortly after his arrest and was released. He remains free on bond.The crime appears to be Internet-based and no physical contact occurred that authorities know of so far, according to Detective Don Breier with the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, who is investigating the case.
