New Castle man gets 15 years for sexual assault

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” A New Castle man convicted of sexually assaulting a child was sentenced to prison Thursday.

Ronald Gray, 42, pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse and two counts of sexual assault on a child in February.

On Thursday, 9th Judicial District Court Judge Denise Lynch sentenced Gray to 15 years in the Colorado Department of Correction.



Lynch also required Gray to complete sex offender treatment and he will have to register as a sex offender once released.

Gray was arrested on Aug. 3, 2008 in Mesa County after the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from a resident.



The Garfield County Sheriff’s Office had been looking for Gray since June of last year.

According to an arrest warrant report, Gray had fled to Littleton, near Denver, and attempted suicide after discovering that police wanted to question him.

Gray was spotted in Rifle on Aug. 3 prior to being arrested.

According to the arrest warrant report, Gray was accused of sexually assaulting multiple underage victims over an nine-year period, between 1998 and 2007.

Gray lived in the Apple Tree Mobile Home Park near New Castle.
